Servers crash CAT's date with mouse
The maiden attempt by the Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs) to make aspirants take the Common Admission Test (CAT) on computers ran into technical snags on the very first day when some servers in 11-odd centers crashed. While there was no official confirmation about the number of affected students, test-preparation institutes estimated that over 300 students could not sit for the examination.

NHPC turns around, posts Rs 581 cr profit

State-run power producer NHPC today reported a net profit of Rs 581 crore for the quarter ended December 31, 2009. - SCI Q3 net dips 53% to Rs 87 cr - GVK Power Q3 net zooms two fold to Rs 46 cr - Ackruti City Q3 net jumps four fold to Rs 77 cr - J-K Bank Q3 net rises 19% to Rs 139 cr - Kalpataru Power Q3 net up 121% at Rs 44 cr - Man Ind"s Q3 net profit up ten-fold at Rs 30.92 cr The company had a loss of Rs 53.94 crore in the same quarter previous fiscal, NHPC said in a filing to the Bombay Stock Exchange. Total income rose to Rs 1,276.97 crore in the October- December quarter, from Rs 485.90 crore in the same quarter previous fiscal.
