Toyota targets 150 dealerships in India by 2010

World"s largest car maker Toyota today said it is looking to expand its dealership network in the country with plans to have a total of 150 outlets by 2010. - Toyota developing anti-drunk driving gadget - Soldier of fortune - Hyundai to invest $40 mn for setting up R&D centre - Toyota in talks with vendors to reduce investment on mini car - Toyota says it will end production at joint venture with GM - Toyota to close assembly lines as sales fall in Japan The Japanese auto maker, which is present in India through a joint venture with the Kirloskar Group, today inaugurated the 90th outlet of "Espirit Toyota" here in the city. "We started with 27 outlets in India in 2000 and we plan to expand our network to 150 dealerships by 2010," Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) Deputy Managing Director (Marketing) Sandeep Singh said in a statement. The new showroom are based on the company"s DIVA concept, which showcases advanced features and systems of the company brand. TKM had last week said it is looking to increase its Indian business by three times during next 3-4 years. The company is also targeting to cross 52,000 units in sales this year,up from about 51,000 units in 2008. It had also announced plans to roll out a small car in the country by 2011. The company currently produces the Corolla Altis, Innova and Fortuner at its Bangalore facility, while it imports the Camry, Prado and Land Cruiser models as completely built units.
